What's New in Cogent: Week of February 9, 2026
Cameron Coles, VP of Marketing
Knowing that a server has a critical vulnerability is one thing. Knowing which team owns it, which business unit it belongs to, and who should be fixing it is where most programs get stuck. And after your organization starts using Cogent or you onboard a new group of users, you need to know who’s adopting the platform and who is lagging behind.
This week we're shipping two features that bring that context into Cogent directly: multi-tier system ownership and user activity visibility.
Multi-tier system ownership
Every asset in Cogent can now carry multiple levels of ownership: business unit, infrastructure owner, DevOps team, individual assignee. You define the tiers that match your org structure, and Cogent populates them automatically using data from your connected tools.

This is a big deal for remediation routing. Instead of a flat "owner" field that only tells you half the story, you get the full chain. A vulnerability on a production database can be tagged to the infrastructure team that manages the host and the business unit whose application runs on it. When it's time to route a fix, the right people are already identified.
It also changes how you report upward. Security leaders who need to show risk by business unit or division can now slice their data that way natively. No more pulling asset lists into Excel and manually mapping them to org charts. The reporting follows the ownership structure you've already defined.
User activity visibility
User Management now shows when each user last logged into the platform. It's a straightforward addition, but it fills a gap that admins have been asking about.

If you're responsible for driving adoption across your security team, you need to know who's actually using the tool. Maybe you onboarded 30 users last quarter, but only 15 are logging in regularly. Now you can see that clearly, follow up with inactive users, and make sure the team is getting full value from the platform.
